LASERWAY – Horizon Europe celebrates with immense joy the recent achievement of Unax Zarraua Cendoya. Unax 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 from the Master’s in Industrial Technology Engineering, specializing in Control and Automation, at Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (EHU).
His project, carried out at IDEKO Research Center, addressed a key challenge in 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 machines designed for 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, where increasing productivity by raising jerk and acceleration often leads to a loss of cutting accuracy due to structural vibrations. The work’s main objective was to increase machine dynamics without compromising precision. To achieve this, two main active damping strategies were investigated:
1. Load-side acceleration feedback
2. Trajectory filtering
Unax’s results are a valuable addition to the development of the 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗪𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺.
